Okay so now, let’s get back to, Tips to prepare for your placement interview as a coder!

1. Make a top-notch portfolio ready!

Portfolio

When it comes to getting hired as a coder, your resume/CV is just not enough. You need to have your portfolio website/software/application ready and give it all to those portfolio projects because your capabilities will be judged based on that.

Your portfolio project is an awesome opportunity to showcase some of your best work and basically pour in all of your knowledge learned from the Bootcamp to impress the recruiters.

You can basically introduce yourself within your portfolio project and give a chance to the recruiter to know you better

Here is a short list of things that you can include:

Bio/About

Deployed projects with source code (documented)

Downloadable resume

Links to relevant social profiles (LinkedIn & Twitter)

Your Contact Info.

Now when you are enrolled into Emonics Free Coding Bootcamp we also give tips and tricks on how to build a neat portfolio that would make you stand out in front of the recruiters.

2. Make effective use of LinkedIn

Linkedin

LinkedIn is the perfect place to hangout as a professional. A lot of employers and recruiters go through profiles of various coders and they thoroughly try to look for coding talent on the platform.

In such a case you should put your best foot forward and try to gain exposure on the platform by sharing your professional experiences.

The very first thing is for you to make sure that your profile is fully optimized with a neat professional photo, a detailed description, and your resume/CV.

Ideally you should be putting as much details as possible but keep in mind, you should not be writing your whole life saga in there. While you want to put as much detail as possible you should also make your description easy to grasp and well formatted.

Your goal should be to not waste the recruiters time while giving as much details as possible.

This will make you stand out and your chances of scoring an interview will get much higher.

Make sure that you clearly mention in your profile that you are open to being hired and populate the career interests section of the LinkedIn with the skills that you possess so that identification process for the recruiter becomes easier.

Apart from all that is above, you can also use LinkedIn for:

  • You can go on and look for the experts in the industry to mentor you with the real world experiences that they have acquired.

  • You can also select your preferences in order to get similar recommendations.
  • You can basically go out and get connected with people and increase your network

3. Prepare for the coding challenges in interview

Interview

Now this is basically the core part of the interview. You can have a top-notch portfolio and a great profile & network on LinkedIn but you should also prepare yourself for all the coding questions and tasks that you are going to face in the placement interview. Because at the end of the day they’d want you to see how you perform.

This is more likely to happen with you as you are going to be interviewing with no prior techjob experience.

Interviewers can literally throw coding challenges that can range something as simple as the fizzbuzz challenge to building an even entire project.

You should definitely spend more time practicing skills in building test projects to polish your skills that you learn from Bootcamp.

Practicing consistently will definitely prepare you for any challenge that they throw at you.

You can use these websites to hone your technical knowledge for the interview.
